Habe ein ATA 66 Kabel vor mir liegen an dem ich bemerkte das ein Kabel von dem 80pol. Flachbandkabel unterbrochen ist. Es wurde richtig eine Leitung mech. durchtrennt.
Meine Frage: ist das die Codierung ATA 66 zu ATA 100 ?
Kann ich ein 100er Kabel draus machen ?

hier ein kurzer Kommentar zu ATA66/ATA100:
ata66 and ata100 BOTH REQUIRE 80 conductor 40 pin cable. ata33 cable is 40 pin and also only 40 conductor (a conductor just means a wire. > its made out of 40/80 wires stuck together) ata 66 and ata100 both use the same cable. any cables labelled ata100 is just for marketing, and as far as i know it should be identical to ata66 cable, - which can be used without problems for ata100, since they should be the same.
ata33 and ata66/100 both use the same 40 pin plugs/connectors, but ata66 and 100 have more wires, 40 more all of which run to earth. why?.. simple enough.. ata66 and 100 work at faster signalling rates than ata33. Running at a faster signalling rate results in crosstalk in adjacent conductors, so the solution by manufacturers was just to put extra wires inbetween each of the 40 wires of a normal ata33 cable. The result is that any induced current goes in the adjacent extra conductor wires in an ata66/100 cable, all of which run to earth. The result is that the crosstalk only occurs in the adacent wires running to earth, where previously it would have caused data corruption by messing up the signals, and so, slowing or stopping the transfer.

genau, ATA66 und 100 Kabel sind gleich, nur manche ältere Controller und HDs können nur ATA-66, neuere auch ATA-100, ganz neue ATA-133

Das "gekappte" Kabel was lediglich eine Masseleitung.
Leider kann der Controller nur ATA 66.
